Vacation – Croatia

During our vacation we visited three countries, namely Austria, Croatia and de Czech Republic, as the food is so different for each country I will write a separate blog for each. The second blog will be about Croatia, where this year we were mainly in Krk and the surrounding area.

This was my very first camping vacation ever and I don’t think it will be my last. It took a little getting used to but I definitely enjoyed it, especially being outside all the time! My only fear was to get a gluten-attack and not be able to make it to the toilet in time, but luckily this didn’t happen!

Vacation – Austria

Last August the boyfriend and I went on vacation. Due to the vacation and updating my glutenfree world map the blog was a little quieter than usual.

During our vacation we visited three countries, namely Austria, Croatia and the Czech republic. The glutenfree experiences vary so much between these three countries that I will devote a post to each. The first one will contain information on Austria, specifically Villach and Vienna.

Recipe for gluten free churro’s

Churro’s, I’ve had them once before at a festival three years ago. Half a year later I went glutenfree and they were forgotten for 1,5 years until we walked past a Churro’s stand in the zoo. Due to the delicious smell I could almost taste them! All of a sudden I had a huge churro’s craving this weekend and I made my first attempt to make them myself. Large dough sticks became bites, flour was replaced by Schär mix C and two burn blisters later I had a delicious result!

Mcdonald’s

Recently I had to go to the hospital in Amsterdam to be tested for insulin allergy. A slightly double feeling, because if they find something at least I know where all my roller coaster sugars are coming from, but also slightly screwed, because what do you do without insulin as a person with diabetes?

Before my gluten intolerance I would go to the McDonald’s occasionally but it’s such a hassle bringing your own bun, finding a microwave to heat it and then getting the burger on your bread and eating it without the bun falling apart.
